Hyundai Department Store Duty Free announced on the 11th that it will conduct the 'Regreen Pickup' campaign, allowing customers to directly choose whether to receive disposable shopping bags when purchasing duty-free products on its online mall.

The Regreen Pickup campaign was implemented to reduce disposable packaging waste generated when receiving duty-free products at airport pickup locations. If customers select not to use disposable shopping bags during the payment process on Hyundai Department Store Internet Duty Free, Hyundai Department Store Duty Free will deliver the duty-free products to customers at the airport pickup location without placing them in shopping bags.

Since the pilot operation in September, the number of customers participating in the campaign has been steadily increasing. The customer participation rate, which was only in the single digits in the first month, exceeded 40% within three months. It is expected that approximately 45 tons of disposable shopping bag waste can be reduced annually once overseas travel returns to normal.

Hyundai Department Store Duty Free plans to additionally accumulate a mutual growth fund equivalent to the amount saved from disposable shopping bags through the Regreen Pickup campaign and use it annually as donations for socially vulnerable groups.

A representative of Hyundai Department Store Duty Free said, “As part of Hyundai Department Store Group’s integrated ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) brand Regreen project, this campaign was launched to realize the social value of environmental protection and reduce the use of disposable shopping bags. We will continue to pursue various eco-friendly initiatives in the future.”
