[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Pyeonghwa] The Korea International Trade Association announced on the 10th the list of 100 companies participating in the economic delegation accompanying President Yoon Suk-yeol's visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The list includes key business figures such as Lee Jae-yong, Chairman of Samsung Electronics, and Chung Eui-sun, Chairman of Hyundai Motor Group.


This economic delegation was formed to support domestic companies' entry into the UAE and Middle Eastern markets and to strengthen private economic cooperation between the two countries. It is the first economic delegation dispatched since President Yoon took office. The delegation consists of a total of 100 companies, including 24 large corporations, 69 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and mid-sized companies, and 7 economic organizations and associations. The industries represented include ▲energy and infrastructure construction ▲defense industry ▲ICT ▲game content, covering sectors with active industrial cooperation between the two countries and fields with high growth potential.


Key attendees include Koo Ja-yeol, Chairman of the Korea International Trade Association; Lee Jae-yong, Chairman of Samsung Electronics; Chung Eui-sun, Chairman of Hyundai Motor Group; Park Ji-won, Chairman of Doosan Enerbility; Jung Ki-sun, President of HD Hyundai; Heo Yong-soo, President of GS Energy; Chey Tae-won, Chairman of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Son Kyung-sik, Chairman of the Korea Employers Federation; Kim Ki-moon, Chairman of the Korea Federation of SMEs; and Choi Jin-sik, Chairman of the Korea Federation of Mid-sized Enterprises.


They are scheduled to participate in various events such as the Korea-UAE Business Forum, economic cooperation Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs), and business consultations locally. They will discuss concrete cooperation plans with UAE businesspeople and create opportunities to build networks among entrepreneurs.


The Korea International Trade Association selected the delegation from companies that submitted applications in response to the recruitment announcement for the economic delegation. The selection committee, composed of 10 members including representatives of major economic organizations and institutions as well as regional experts, finalized the list after two rounds of deliberation. The committee comprehensively considered factors such as project relevance, potential, and the likelihood of securing orders and contracts in making their selections.
