Gijang-gun Decides to Provide 300,000 Won Disaster Basic Income per Resident

Gijang-gun Decides to Provide 300,000 Won Disaster Basic Income per Resident Gijang County Office.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] Busan Gijang-gun will provide the '3rd Gijang-type Disaster Basic Income' of 300,000 KRW per person to approximately 178,000 residents.

Gijang-gun decided to provide the 3rd disaster basic income to help residents overcome economic difficulties caused by the prolonged COVID-19 disaster situation, support the recovery of daily life, and revitalize the stagnant local economy.

In particular, reflecting the request of the Gijang-gun Council that more active resident support measures are needed to alleviate difficulties in the low-income economy, the payment amount was finally increased from the original 200,000 KRW to 300,000 KRW.

The payment target is residents who have been continuously registered in Gijang-gun as of January 4, 2023, until the application date, and the required budget of 53.9 billion KRW will be fully covered by the county government.

Applications for the disaster basic income are scheduled to be accepted in February, and both online and in-person visits will be possible. A 5-day rotation system based on the last digit of the head of household's birth year will be applied to minimize congestion at the application counters.

Jeong Jong-bok, the head of Gijang-gun, said, "I hope this disaster basic income can provide some support to the residents of Gijang-gun who are experiencing many difficulties due to the prolonged COVID-19 recession, interest rate hikes, and rising prices," and added, "As we welcome the new year of 2023, the Year of the Black Rabbit, I sincerely hope that we overcome difficulties together and that all residents have a hopeful year."
