[Breaking] Court Sentences 3 Ministry of Industry Officials to Probation for Deleting Wolseong Nuclear Power Plant Data

[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Seok-jin, Legal Affairs Specialist] Three Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy officials who were prosecuted for deleting documents related to the early shutdown of the Wolseong Nuclear Power Plant Unit 1 were sentenced to suspended prison terms in the first trial.

The 11th Criminal Division of the Daejeon District Court (Presiding Judge Park Heon-haeng) on the morning of the 9th sentenced Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy director-level official A, who was indicted on charges including damage to public electronic records, unauthorized access, and violation of the Board of Audit and Inspection Act, to one year in prison with a two-year suspension. Two other Ministry officials, B and C, who were indicted on the same charges, were each sentenced to eight months in prison with a two-year suspension.
