Lotte Duty Free Implements Future-Oriented Metaverse Store at CES

Lotte Duty Free announced on the 8th that it participated in the world's largest electronics and IT exhibition, the 'Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2023,' for the second consecutive year and showcased metaverse content.

From the 5th to the 8th (local time), Lotte Duty Free took part in the Lotte Group exhibition hall at CES 2023 held in Las Vegas, USA, and introduced the 'Virtual Lotte Duty Free Tower' (LDF Tower).

The 'Virtual Lotte Duty Free Tower' is metaverse (virtual reality) content of a 10-story building. The four floors previewed this time consist of the lobby, fitting room, fashion, and cosmetics and perfume floors. While CES 2022 featured a virtual fitting room where customers could try on fashion items, this year’s biggest difference is that customers can move avatars they personally selected and freely shop in brand-specific stores. Additionally, shopping items were expanded from fashion products to cosmetics and perfumes, and networking and real-time communication among customers were enabled.

During the exhibition period, customers visiting the Lotte Group booth wore HMD (Head Mounted Display) devices and enjoyed the ultra-realistic metaverse life provided by Lotte Duty Free. Customers entering the virtual shopping space, the 'Virtual Lotte Duty Free Tower (LDF Tower),' could enter the fitting room and browse items of interest in first-person view mode and try on selected products.

At CES 2023, Lotte Duty Free collaborated with a total of four brands?MCM, Acm? de la Vie, Make Up For Ever, and L’Occitane?to provide product information for each brand and allow customers to try on products on their customized personal avatars.

A Lotte Duty Free official said, "As the first in the duty-free industry to participate in CES for two consecutive years, we presented customers with a 'future-style shopping life' through the metaverse content realized by Lotte Duty Free. We will continue to propose new business models based on ongoing investment in metaverse and digital technologies."
