Improvement in Sending Home Notices
Aimed at Parent Satisfaction and Reducing School Workload
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Byung-don] The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education announced on the 9th that it will improve the method of sending home correspondence letters starting this year to reduce school administrative burdens.
This improvement aims to deliver various notices to parents more quickly and accurately while minimizing the workload on schools so that they can focus on educational activities. It is a tailored proactive administrative measure considering that most schools in Seoul currently use notification services to inform parents through home correspondence letters.
Previously, when the headquarters or education support offices issued official documents regarding school notices, each school would internally approve and then register the information separately on their websites and notification service applications. Going forward, this process will be improved so that the education office will provide unified notifications.
Additionally, as part of this year's plan to reduce official school documents, the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education will pilot the ‘Autonomous District’s Annual School-related Project Pre-Notification System’ by expanding cooperation with external organizations related to schools.
Until now, autonomous districts’ school support projects were communicated sporadically during the semester through cooperation among the education office, schools, and autonomous districts. Under the new system, these projects will be collectively notified to schools at the beginning of the year through the local education support offices. Accordingly, each school will be able to comprehensively review the autonomous district’s school support projects in advance and incorporate them into their annual education plans.
Cho Hee-yeon, Superintendent of the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education, stated, “The effect of reducing school administrative burdens through unified home correspondence letter dispatch by the education office is expected to have a significant ripple effect not only on all schools in Seoul but also on education offices nationwide.” He added, “We will continue to actively strive to promote policies for reducing and streamlining school official documents and administrative tasks so that teachers can focus more on educating students, creating a virtuous cycle.”
