[Asia Economy Reporter Hyungsoo Park] Robot motion control company RS Automation announced on the 6th that it has formed a strategic alliance with Shenzhen Hans Motor S&T (Hans Motor), a Chinese automation system specialist, and is making a full-scale entry into the Chinese automation solution market.
The two companies agreed to mutually discuss specific details, including granting Hans Motor the authority to sell RS Automation's core solutions in the Chinese market, and to pursue joint development. In the short term, the goal is to supply and sell RS Automation products worth 10 billion KRW annually in the Chinese automation market, to understand demand and promote mid- to long-term cooperation.
RS Automation will first start with ▲controller product ‘MMC’ series ▲servo drive ‘CSD7’ series ▲next-generation logistics mobility solution (LMS), and after confirming market feedback, will add to the product lineup. The core products of RS Automation, the high-performance motion controller MMC and the CSD7, which enables intelligent tuning and high-precision control, will be supplied either after domestic production and export or through the Chinese subsidiary Ningbo Xinji Automation Co., Ltd.
MMC is a robot motion controller in the form of a computer card that is installed in an industrial computer slot. The MMC-E robot motion controller is introduced as a cost-effective product with high performance, capable of real-time control of 64 axes with a single card at an economical price point. Since 2016, it has been applied in solar cell manufacturing processes (Hanwha), OLED manufacturing processes (Samsung Display), among others. It is used together with robot motion drive products.
Servo drives and servo motors are devices corresponding to the drive units in robot motion control. Servo motors can be applied in many areas requiring high-speed, high-precision control such as machine tools, welding robots, automobile assembly robots, CCTV cameras, inspection equipment, and 3D printers. They are motors capable of precise position, speed, or torque control. To control a servo motor, a servo drive is essential. The servo drive receives commands from the robot motion controller and drives the servo motor. The CSD7 servo drive supports international standard Ethernet communication for robot motion control and enables 23-bit resolution control. It can be applied in industrial sites requiring ultra-precision control.
Tang Zheng, CEO of Hans Motor, said, "The Chinese automation solution market requires RS Automation solutions with global top-tier technology," and added, "Our goal is to sell RS Automation products worth 10 billion KRW annually by leveraging Hans Motor’s strong sales network."
Kang Deokhyun, CEO of RS Automation, also said, "We are pleased to form a strategic partnership with Hans Motor, which has solid technology and infrastructure, to enter the Chinese market," and added, "We will do our best to create synergy with the projects previously pursued for entry into China."
Hans Motor is a subsidiary of Hans Laser, a global laser equipment company listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange. It is an advanced tech company engaged in research and development, production, and sales of solutions related to automation systems. It is gaining a good reputation by aiming for intelligent solutions and providing customer-customized standard equipment, thereby enhancing the level of the Chinese manufacturing industry.
