CES Attended by Vice Chairman Park Jung-ho... "Meeting Customers like Qualcomm and AMD"

[Las Vegas=Asia Economy Reporter Park Sun-mi] Park Jung-ho, Vice Chairman of SK Hynix, expressed his determination to overcome the challenging semiconductor market during his visit to CES 2023, the world's largest electronics and IT exhibition, which opened on the 5th (local time) in Las Vegas, USA.

On the morning of the 5th (local time), after holding an internal meeting at the Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC), Vice Chairman Park told reporters that he would take this CES as an opportunity to meet with many customers to find a breakthrough in the bleak semiconductor market. He said, "I am having many customer meetings," adding, "I am meeting with Solidigm as well as customers like AMD and Qualcomm." He further stated, "Our major customers who purchase a lot of our semiconductors are Dell and HP, but as future partners, AMD and Qualcomm are important," and added, "I will have many such meetings."

Regarding the gloomy semiconductor market, he predicted, "This year, the average price of memory semiconductors is expected to be slightly lower than the lowest price at the end of last year." However, he said, "Customers' investment mindset is recovering quickly, so the downturn will not last very long." On the rumored merger between Japan's Kioxia and the US's Western Digital, he said a cautious approach is necessary. He stated, "We are carefully observing (whether Japan will approve)," adding, "We are monitoring how the Japanese government will approach the fact that SK Hynix has already invested in Kioxia. This is a key point to watch."
