[Asia Economy Reporter Hyungsoo Park] The Korea Hold'em Association is being launched. The association's inaugural president is Son Chang-wook, CEO of Me2on.
On the 5th, the Korea Hold'em Association held its 'Inauguration Ceremony and Founding Commemorative Seminar' at the 2nd Small Conference Room on the 2nd floor of the National Assembly Members' Office Building in Yeouido, Seoul, with about 100 attendees including association members and political and business figures. The event was co-hosted by the Korea Hold'em Association and Congressman Kim Byung-gi's office, and organized by Me2on, STN, Panda TV, and the Korea Blockchain Enterprise Promotion Association.
The association plans to develop systems to create a healthy environment and foster the industry to establish a culture of hold'em gaming and eradicate illegal gambling. It will work with industry stakeholders from online hold'em games to offline hold'em pubs to build a sound gaming culture environment.
Future projects include ▲ expanding the base and popularizing hold'em as a mind sport ▲ hosting and operating international tournament events ▲ running hold'em educational institutions and producing educational content ▲ nurturing national representatives, professional hold'em players, and professional dealers ▲ launching a hold'em pro league ▲ supporting and supervising online hold'em games and offline hold'em pubs.
Son Chang-wook, the inaugural president, said, "In overseas markets centered on North America and Europe, international hold'em tournaments such as WSOP, WPT, and EPT are already very popular," adding, "They are broadcast live on ESPN, the world's largest sports channel, achieving high viewership ratings."
He continued, "Through the Korea Hold'em Association, we will do our best to establish hold'em as Korea's representative mind sport."
