Recently, the number of manufacturing companies utilizing metaverse platforms has been increasing. Various innovative cases based on the metaverse, such as Hyundai Motor Company's reduction of new car development time and costs through metaverse design, and BMW's improvement of production management efficiency through the Omniverse platform, already demonstrate that the metaverse has become a key driver of manufacturing innovation.
A 'Metaverse Talent Development Training (Employee Training Course)' program, which trains experts from metaverse introduction to project production support for employees of small and medium-sized manufacturing companies located in the Gumi Industrial Complex, Gyeongsangbuk-do, has been successfully operated, and a project performance presentation was held on December 17th.
Metaverse edutech specialist company Ducozen (CEO Park Jeong-ho) was in charge of the overall operation of the training, and the education was conducted at the Gyeongbuk Design-Driven Manufacturing Innovation Center, which plays a major role in providing customized design support programs and revitalizing manufacturing in the region. A total of 137 graduates from the Gyeongbuk and Daegu manufacturing-based workforce completed this employee training course.
In the corporate practical projects carried out by teams consisting of youth, employees, and experts, various metaverse-based business service models were planned and implemented, focusing on safe dismantling of the Wolseong Nuclear Power Plant Unit 1, a metaverse ecosystem platform service for two-wheeler users, visual spatial experiences combining technology and design for IoT device products, and online consultation services using bone conduction earphones and virtual spaces.
Seo OO, a trainee who implemented the service project using bone conduction earphones, stated, “From January 5 to 8, 2023, at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2023) in Las Vegas, we will seek buyers and lay the foundation for future online consultation services utilizing virtual spaces.”
Park Jeong-ho, CEO of Ducozen, said, “Through the final selected projects at the performance presentation and the corporate practical projects carried out by teams of youth, employees, and experts, meaningful outputs were realized through metaverse XR content or design-linked services based on regional manufacturing companies. It is significant in that it provided a new experience to complete good content. Various business cases using platforms such as Zepeto, Gather Town, and Spatial, as well as custom application development using Unity 3D in the manufacturing sector, can bridge the gap between the expectations and reality of the metaverse.”
