Eligibility requirements include ▲ senior public officials with over 10 years of investigative work experience ▲ judges, prosecutors, or lawyers with over 10 years of experience ▲ lawyers who have worked in legal affairs at public institutions for over 10 years ▲ professors in the fields of law or police studies. The selection process follows the Police Act and the Police Officer Appointment Decree and proceeds in the order of document screening → physical examination → comprehensive evaluation → recommendation by the Commissioner General of the National Police Agency → proposal by the Minister of the Interior and Safety → passage through the Prime Minister → appointment by the President.
The National Investigation Headquarters Chief is appointed at the rank of Police Commissioner, which is directly below the Commissioner General of the National Police Agency, and serves a single two-year term. The Chief will command and supervise the heads of each metropolitan and provincial police agency, police station chiefs, and officials belonging to investigative departments regarding police investigations.
