[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Gu Daeseon] It was revealed on the 4th that Kim Pilgyu, chairman of the Chilgok-gun Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Gyeongbuk, donated 10 million won to the Chilgok-gun Hope Welfare Support Group for use by the visually impaired.
Chairman Kim’s donation for the visually impaired stems from his mother, who suffered many inconveniences due to optic nerve atrophy and passed away 42 years ago.
Kim said, “When I encounter visually impaired people on the street, a poignant longing for my mother and thoughts of the difficulties those who cannot see must endure stir a pain in a corner of my heart. Among disabilities, the inability to see is the most inconvenient. I plan to actively support the visually impaired going forward.”
He has shown great interest and effort in scholarship projects nurturing future talents, donating between 3 million and 5 million won annually since 2013 to the Chilgok-gun Hoi Scholarship Foundation (Chairman Kim Jaewook, Governor), with total donations reaching 40 million won.
