[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] The Daejeon City Special Judicial Police have caught five companies violating environmental laws.
The special judicial police announced on the 4th that from November to December last year, they conducted investigations into illegal activities targeting environmental measurement agencies and air pollutant emission businesses operating in the region, uncovering four companies that violated measurement agency management standards and one company that installed illegal air emission facilities.
The caught measurement agencies are suspected of violating the obligation to submit documents related to measurement agency contracts.
Additionally, one furniture manufacturing company was caught during the crackdown for installing and operating a sawing facility that generates a large amount of dust without reporting the installation of air emission facilities to the relevant authorities.
The special judicial police plan to criminally charge the violators of the caught companies and request administrative sanctions from related departments and autonomous districts.
Yang Seung-chan, Director of the Citizen Safety Office of the city, said, “In the new year, we will strive to maintain a pleasant environment so that citizens can live healthily and safely,” adding, “We will also take strong action against illegal pollution activities that threaten a clean and safe living environment.”
