[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Hyewon] Genesis BBQ has decided to increase the starting salary for new college graduates by 33.5% this year. This is the highest level in the food service franchise industry, far surpassing the average starting salary of 33 million KRW in the chicken franchise sector. It is a groundbreaking treatment approaching the average starting salary of new employees at major domestic corporations.


On the 4th, Yoon Hong-geun, Chairman of Genesis BBQ Group, stated, "We will open a new era of talent management by nurturing young and fresh talent with the industry's best treatment and innovating into the world's largest and best food service company."


BBQ has significantly increased the annual salary by 33.5% this year for new college graduates (field operation managers, supervisors) and sales managers (franchise consultants), whose salary was 34 million KRW last year. Accordingly, the starting salary for college graduates will be approximately 45.4 million KRW.


Despite the bleak economic outlook, Chairman Yoon is known to have made this decision after six months of careful consideration, based on the talent management philosophy that "excellent talent ultimately saves the company."


Chairman Yoon said, "To overcome domestic and international economic crises such as global inflation and interest rate hikes, we must move forward through more bold and new innovative management. We judged that securing excellent talent with potential is more important than anything else, which led to this decision."


He added, "By providing the industry's best treatment, we aim to create a working environment where members take pride in working for the world's largest and best food service franchise company and can achieve the best results. We will completely reorganize into an organizational culture focused on personal capacity enhancement and performance achievement, and through new talent management that provides appropriate rewards to capable talent, we will develop into an exponential company."


Meanwhile, on the 1st, Chairman Yoon held a New Year's ceremony at the Chicken University auditorium in Icheon, Gyeonggi Province, with family members (franchise owners) and executives nationwide. In his New Year's address, he expressed his aspirations for the new year, saying, "With the spirit of Paongguu (破甕救友, breaking the jar to save a friend), we will break the existing framework through bold and new innovations and transform into a comprehensive IP food culture company."
