According to the Korea Meteorological Administration on the 3rd, the minimum temperature the next morning is expected to range from -16°C to -1°C. Northern Gyeonggi, inland Gangwon, and Gangwon mountain areas will be below -15°C, central regions, eastern Jeonbuk, and inland Gyeongbuk will have morning temperatures around -10°C, and other southern regions will be around -5°C.
The daytime maximum temperature is expected to stay between -1°C and 9°C. Some parts of the central region will have daytime temperatures around 0°C. Seoul’s expected minimum temperature is -7°C, and the maximum is 1°C. Other areas include Incheon at -6°C and 0°C, Daejeon at -5°C and 5°C, Gwangju at -4°C and 7°C, Daegu at -4°C and 6°C, Ulsan at -3°C and 7°C, and Busan at -2°C and 9°C.
The cold is expected to continue until the morning of the 5th. After that, temperatures will recover to normal levels, and the severe cold is expected to ease somewhat.
Fine dust will begin to flow in from the afternoon. The metropolitan area will experience temporarily 'bad' fine dust levels in the morning, while Honam and Jeju will see 'bad' levels at night. Chungbuk’s fine dust level is also 'bad.'
There are also dry areas. Dry weather warnings are currently in effect for Gangwon Yeongdong and Yeongnam. On the 4th and 5th, strong winds around 55 km/h (15 m/s) are expected in the Gangwon mountain area and the eastern coast of Gyeongbuk, so caution against large fires is advised.
Snow will fall on the morning of the next day along the west coast of Chungnam and Jeonbuk. Additionally, about 1 cm of snow is expected on Ulleungdo and Dokdo.
