Gyeongnam Medical Center Jinju Hospital Set for Smooth Opening in 2027

Passed Ministry of Economy and Finance Project Plan Adequacy Review

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] A favorable wind has begun to blow for the establishment project of Jinju Hospital, Gyeongsangnam-do Medical Center, a key administrative task of the 8th term of Gyeongnam Province.

Gyeongnam Province announced on the 3rd that the Jinju Hospital establishment project passed the Ministry of Economy and Finance's project plan adequacy review on December 29 of last year.

It was confirmed to have a scale of 300 beds as originally planned, with a site area of 40,346㎡ and a building area of 31,150㎡, consisting of one basement floor and five above-ground floors.

The total project cost is 157.8 billion KRW, with detailed items estimated as follows: construction and incidental costs at 102.2 billion KRW, equipment purchase and pre-opening operating expenses and other investments at 34.8 billion KRW, and land acquisition costs at 20.8 billion KRW.

According to the province, the Ministry of Economy and Finance's project plan adequacy review is a procedure to confirm the appropriate project scale and budget for projects exempted from the preliminary feasibility study process.

The province plans to promote the project aiming for the opening of Jinju Hospital in 2027.

To expedite the project, since October last year, the province selected a service provider to establish the medical and operational system for the basic hospital establishment plan and commenced the service on December 13.

If the local finance investment review, architectural planning review, and architectural design proceed as planned, construction is scheduled to begin in 2025.

Baek Jongcheol, Director of the Health Administration Division, said, “This project plan adequacy review evaluated the project cost based on 2020 standards,” adding, “We will do our best to secure national budget for inflation adjustments until the completion of the detailed design and ensure the successful establishment of Jinju Hospital.”
