[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] Gimhae Astronomical Observatory of Gimhae Cultural Foundation in Gyeongnam will hold a special observation event for 'Mars' from the 3rd to April 20th.

Mars is the fourth planet in the solar system, characterized by a surface composed of red iron oxide, giving it a reddish desert-like terrain.

During this period, Gimhae Astronomical Observatory will provide opportunities and explanations for observing Mars, known as the Red Planet, as well as Jupiter, the celestial gates, and winter constellations, using six large telescopes every Tuesday through Sunday night.

According to the observatory, this Mars event coincides with the 'Mars Opposition' period, when Mars and Earth align in a straight line for the first time in 2 years and 2 months.

An official predicted that Mars will appear large and bright enough to be identified with the naked eye, and explained that details of Mars' surface as well as the polar caps at the south and north poles can be clearly seen.

An observatory official said, "This Mars Opposition is expected to be the brightest in the next 10 years, making this observation event even more special," and added, "Administrative observations are affected by weather conditions, so please be sure to check by phone whether the observation will take place before visiting."

Participation in the observation event can be reserved online through the Gimhae Astronomical Observatory website.
