Pukyong National University Appoints Shin Jeong-hoon, CEO of BTG, as Honorary Dean of the College of Engineering

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] Pukyong National University has appointed the CEO of a semiconductor specialized company as the honorary dean of the College of Engineering ahead of the establishment of the semiconductor department in 2024.

On the 29th, Jang Young-su, President of Pukyong National University, personally presented the appointment letter of honorary dean of the College of Engineering to Shin Jeong-hoon, CEO of Bitouji, at the president's office on the 3rd floor of the university headquarters, asking him to play an active role in the establishment and operation of the semiconductor department.

Pukyong National University is building infrastructure such as personnel, facilities, and curriculum with the goal of establishing a semiconductor department with an admission quota of 40 students in 2024 and producing field-customized professional personnel.

In September, the university signed a business agreement with Bitouji and formed a strategic partnership, including receiving equipment for power semiconductor manufacturing processes as a donation.

With this appointment of the honorary dean of the College of Engineering, the university plans to expand cooperation in the establishment of the semiconductor department, talent cultivation, discovery of research and development projects, and execution of industry-academia projects.

According to Pukyong National University regulations, a person with high character and virtue who has made or intends to make significant contributions to the development of the university can be appointed as an honorary dean upon recommendation by the dean of the respective college.

The honorary dean, a non-standing position, engages in activities such as advising the president and dean on matters related to university development, industry-academia cooperation, and employment.

Pukyong National University is advancing academic fields in cutting-edge areas by establishing not only the semiconductor department but also departments of Digital Finance and Smart Mobility.
