[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Suwon City in Gyeonggi Province was selected as the best local government in the "2022 Comprehensive Evaluation of Local Non-Tax Revenue Operation Performance" hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and received an institutional commendation.
Suwon City announced on the 2nd that it was selected as the best local government for two consecutive years following last year and will receive a financial incentive (grant tax) of 80 million KRW.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety has been analyzing and evaluating the operation performance of non-tax revenue assessment and collection of 243 metropolitan and basic local governments nationwide every year since 2015 to increase the collection rate of local non-tax revenue.
The 243 metropolitan and basic local governments are divided into 13 groups according to population and financial status for evaluation, and Suwon was selected as the best local government in the "City-(1)" group, which includes 18 cities such as Goyang, Yongin, Seongnam, and Hwaseong.
For each group, one best and one excellent organization are selected by combining quantitative evaluation (70 points) such as collection rate and qualitative evaluation (30 points) such as self-effort, and Suwon received high marks in the "Local Administrative Sanctions and Charges Collection Rate" indicator.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety creates analysis tables for all 243 metropolitan and basic local governments nationwide and shares them with all local governments so that they can self-diagnose and improve.
