[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] The cloud transition of domestic public health and welfare sector institutions and systems is being promoted.
KT Cloud announced on the 30th that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for technical cooperation on cloud and security systems in the public health and welfare sector with the Korea Social Security Information Service and AhnLab.
Through this agreement, the three parties will demonstrate systems for the cloud transition of administrative and public information systems in the health and welfare sector, and promote consulting and integrated operation management to operate them efficiently and stably. The Korea Social Security Information Service is a specialized public institution that operates various public systems such as Happy e-Eum, the pan-government social security information system, regional health care information systems, and public health portals.
According to the agreement, the Korea Social Security Information Service will prepare buildings and facility construction environments for demonstrating the concept of a private-public cooperation cloud model. KT Cloud will support public sector technologies for stable cloud construction and operation, and provide integrated consulting for the cloud transition of information systems. AhnLab will be responsible for cloud information security system consulting services and technology. The three parties will also operate a practical working-level council for project promotion starting from January next year.
KT expects to build a convergence synergy business model by integrating various technologies such as the group’s artificial intelligence (AI) and big data to enable customized welfare projects, prediction of child abuse signs, and welfare models for the aging era.
The Korea Social Security Information Service plans to provide more convenient and prompt services to the public through the cloud transition of health and welfare information systems. It aims to fundamentally block service instability caused by user surges during specific periods such as COVID-19 and strengthen security systems to provide safer services.
No Dae-myung, President of the Korea Social Security Information Service, said, "We will create a convergence cooperation model in the cloud field by combining the know-how of the Information Service, a specialized digital platform institution in the health and welfare sector, with private sector expertise."
Yoon Dong-sik, CEO of KT Cloud, said, "With the cloud transition of institutions and systems in the health and welfare sector, it is expected that all citizens will be able to use more convenient and stable services."
