Busan Design Promotion Institute Supports Domestic Edutech Companies Entering Vietnam Usability evaluation conducted with local Vietnamese participants.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] Busan Design Promotion Institute has successfully completed the ‘EduTech Industry New Southern Market Entry Design Development Project’ supporting domestic EduTech companies' expansion into New Southern countries.

The EduTech Industry New Southern Market Entry Design Development Project, promoted by Busan Design Promotion Institute, is led by the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology under the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy. It is a project that provides focused support for the development of core source technologies in strategic technology fields based on national growth strategies as part of the Industrial Core Technology Development Project.

The project theme involved developing K-Edu Academy services utilizing Hallyu based on XR (Extended Reality) and AI technologies, and demonstrating a corporate pioneer-type entry business model through establishing local centers in New Southern countries. A total of eight institutions participated over three years with a total budget of 2.8 billion KRW.

As of December 2022, for New Southern countries (Vietnam), educational content combining Hallyu and EduTech was developed (5 services: K-Pop, K-Beauty, K-Sports, Hangul, Coding). Design development, verification, and localization were completed through consultation with domestic design experts and usability surveys targeting local Vietnamese users.

From the 5th to the 8th, Busan Design Promotion Institute conducted usability evaluations of the developed EduTech content with local Vietnamese users to assess the completeness of the project tasks and derive additional improvements, supporting the reflection of actual overseas user needs in the services.

In October, by utilizing the Hanoi Design Exchange Office operated by Busan Design Promotion Institute, an offline business center was established locally in Vietnam, creating a foothold for expanding the K-EduTech industry into New Southern countries.

Kang Pilhyun, President of Busan Design Promotion Institute, stated, “By leveraging the advantages of the EduTech industry rapidly integrating with Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies, we will serve as a gateway for Busan EduTech technology to enter Southeast Asia, where education demand is increasing due to rapid economic growth.”

Busan Design Promotion Institute opened the Hanoi Design Exchange Office in December 2019 in cooperation with local universities in Vietnam to support the overseas expansion of design-specialized companies in the Busan region. It exchanges with local overseas organizations such as the Korea Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam and the Vietnam Private Business Association, and strives to enhance the international recognition of Busan Design Promotion Institute through public and fashion design special lectures.
