[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Hyowon] Duzone Educam announced on the 28th that the ‘Hello Chuncheon English PT Contest,’ which showcased the improved English proficiency of elementary and middle school students who took Chuncheon City’s native speaker 1:1 online English classes throughout the year, concluded on the 27th.

The Hello Chuncheon English PT Contest, hosted by Duzone Educam (CEO Yoon Sungtae), an education-specialized affiliate of Duzone ICT Group, was held for the first time this year for students enrolled in the ‘Chuncheon City Native Speaker 1:1 Online English’ program, organized by the Chuncheon Citizens Scholarship Welfare Foundation (Chairman Yuk Donghan) and commissioned to Duzone Educam for operation.

This contest was designed as a program to enhance the learning effectiveness and sense of achievement of Chuncheon City native speaker online English students. The preparation process, in which students write their own scripts and presentations, aims to boost their confidence in using English and motivate their learning.

The contest was divided into three categories: lower elementary (grades 1?2), upper elementary (grades 3?6), and middle school. In the finals held at Chuncheon City Hall, the final 12 contestants who passed the preliminary round from 120 online participants competed on the themes of ‘Tourist Attractions’ or ‘Festivals’ in Chuncheon City.

Judging was conducted fairly and objectively by an external panel of judges, including current university professors and education office officials. Based on criteria such as content, expression and delivery, and language use, all participants in each category received awards including Grand Prize and Excellence Award (one each), and Merit Awards (two each).

The Grand Prize winners for each category were ▲Choi Seoyoon (Seongrim Elementary) ▲ Lee Hoil (Bongui Elementary) ▲ Lee Chaeun (Chuncheon Middle). The Excellence Awards went to ▲ Oh Yeonseok (Chuncheon National University Attached Elementary) ▲ Lee Seunghoon (Toegye Elementary) ▲ Jung Seokhoon (Woosuk Middle), and the Merit Awards were awarded to ▲ Ji Shinbi (Sindong Elementary) and Nam Yeonho (Nambu Elementary) ▲ Im Serin (Chuncheon Elementary) and Kim Raeun (Dongbu Elementary) ▲ Seo Yeryeon (Toegye Middle) and Oh Jungeun (Woosuk Middle).

Yoon Sungtae, CEO of Duzone Educam, said, “Online video lectures without restrictions of time and space have established themselves as an innovative edutech pillar that can resolve educational opportunity inequality. We will continue to support more students in Chuncheon City to experience tailored professional education rather than one-sided internet lectures through native speaker 1:1 online English classes.”

Meanwhile, the number of students taking Chuncheon City native speaker 1:1 online English classes has steadily increased with positive responses from local elementary and middle school students. Demonstrating the excellence of infrastructure such as advanced ICT-based video lecture systems, the program secured 1,040 students in its first year of recruitment and increased to 1,396 this year. Reflecting this demand, Duzone Educam is recruiting additional students for the 4th term. Any student enrolled in elementary or middle schools residing in Chuncheon City is eligible to participate.
