Fire... Fire... Fire Safety... Consecutive Fires in Gyeongnam Province

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] Due to continuous dry air and strong winds, fire incidents have occurred in various parts of Gyeongnam Province.

At around 5:55 a.m. on the 26th, a fire broke out in a nearby mountain area of Daega-myeon, Goseong-gun, Gyeongnam.

The forestry authorities deployed 57 wildfire suppression personnel and 11 pieces of equipment, and by around 6:35 a.m. on the same day, the main fire was extinguished and they were monitoring for flare-ups. No casualties were reported.

According to the Gyeongnam Fire Headquarters, at around 2:33 p.m. the previous day, a 2003 Volkswagen caught fire and was completely destroyed in an open space near a temple in Habuk-myeon, Yangsan City.

At around 5:44 p.m., a fire broke out in a vacant detached house in Chilwon-eup, Haman-gun, damaging the boiler room and one boiler.

At around 11:42 p.m., a fire at an agricultural product warehouse in Hanam-eup, Miryang City, burned the warehouse and turned agricultural product sorting materials into ashes.

The Fire Headquarters stated, “During winter, the risk of fire increases due to dry weather and the use of heating appliances. We urge everyone to thoroughly inspect firefighting equipment such as fire extinguishers and fire facilities regularly, and to exercise special caution when lighting fires or using heating devices.”
