Samsung Electronics' 'Samsung Global Goals App' Donations Surpass $10 Million Accumulated

[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] Samsung Electronics announced on the 26th that donations through the Galaxy smartphone's sustainability application 'Samsung Global Goals' have surpassed a cumulative total of 10 million dollars (approximately 13 billion KRW).

This achievement was reached three years after the app's launch. The app was developed through a partnership between Samsung Electronics and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) with the goal of addressing various global challenges facing the planet.

Currently, it is installed on about 300 million Galaxy smartphones, tablets, and wearable devices, and any Galaxy user can download and use it on their Galaxy device.

The app introduces the 17 Sustainable Development Goals set by the UNDP, including education issues, climate change, and poverty eradication, as well as various activities carried out by global youth to achieve these goals.

In particular, the app is designed to allow users to easily participate in donations by watching ads within the app, and Samsung Electronics matches the amount donated by users on a 1:1 basis to contribute together.

The funds raised through the app are delivered to the UNDP and support various activities of youth in over 100 countries worldwide to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.

Notae Moon, President of Samsung Electronics MX Division, said, "We believe Samsung Electronics' technology can help solve various problems facing the planet," and added, "We deeply thank Galaxy users who have contributed to achieving the goals through the Global Goals app."

Meanwhile, Samsung Electronics is also carrying out the 'Generation17' project in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme to support 14 young leaders contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.
