Foreign Man Suffers Partial Finger Amputation Injury While Capturing Wild Animal in Park

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] A foreign man was injured with part of his finger amputated after being caught in a wildlife trap at Daejeo Ecological Park in Gangseo-gu, Busan.

According to the Gangseo-gu Police Station in Busan on the 23rd, at around 9:30 a.m. on the 22nd, a man in his 40s, identified as Mr. A, was walking his dog on a trail in Daejeo Ecological Park when his dog's leg got caught in a trap. While trying to free the dog, part of the tip of Mr. A's left index finger was amputated.

The person who installed the trap has not been identified, and Mr. A was taken to the hospital and is currently receiving treatment.

The trap was intended for catching ducks. According to the Wildlife Protection and Management Act, capturing or harvesting mallards and other protected species is prohibited, and except for harmful birds, capturing wildlife is not allowed without permission.

A police official stated, "We plan to investigate the installer of the trap and the purpose of installation through CCTV review and victim interviews."
