As the number of golf enthusiasts increases, it was found that golfers went to the field more than 8 times on average this year. The average expenditure per person exceeded 260,000 KRW, with complaints mainly about the costs.


Consumer opinion research firm Embrain announced on the 23rd that according to the results of the '2022 Golf Industry Planning Survey' conducted on 3,000 people who experienced golf fields within the past year, golfers visited golf courses an average of 8.75 times this year. The average spending per person was 265,500 KRW.


Among all respondents, 47.8% used a golf course within the last month, and the number of rounds played by women (9.94 times) was higher than the male average (8.27 times). The group that played most frequently was women in their 50s (11.25 times).


In the golf course satisfaction survey, satisfaction was highest among men and women in their 20s. Overall, 63.1% responded that they were satisfied. Across all age groups, the satisfaction rate was 38.3%.


Regarding improvements needed at golf courses, complaints about costs were the most common, with 'high green fees (58.4%)', 'mandatory 4-player play (37.2%)', and 'caddie fees (30.6%)' ranking highest.


In a survey asking about the most recently purchased golf wear brands and golf shoes, 'Nike Golf' ranked first (11.7% and 27.7%, respectively). The second most popular golf wear brands were 'Titleist' (6.2%), 'Callaway' (5.7%), and 'JDX Golf' (4.6%).


The most commonly used drivers were 'TaylorMade' (14.0%), 'Callaway' (13.5%), 'Ping' (13.3%), and 'Titleist' (10.2%). Among advanced players with an average score below 85, Titleist had the highest usage rate.


Golf wear rental experience was limited to 216 out of 3,000 respondents (7.2%), but the intention to use golf wear rental in the future was 27.4%, more than three times the current usage rate. Currently, the highest golf wear rental usage rate was among men in their 20s at 29.8%.


About three out of ten respondents used golf club fitting services, with fitting usage rates by club type as follows: driver (42.1%), iron (33.7%), putter (31.0%), wood (hybrid, 29.2%), and wedge (25.2%).


The survey was conducted on 2,147 male golfers and 853 female golfers aged 20 to 50, with a 99% confidence level and a sampling error of ±2.4 percentage points.
