Yongin City Produces 'Cultural Heritage Guidebook'... Includes 182 Designated Cultural Properties Cover of the 'Yongin Cultural Heritage Guidebook' produced and distributed by Yongin City

[Asia Economy (Yongin) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province has produced 1,000 copies of the "Yongin Cultural Heritage Guidebook," containing the latest information on 182 designated cultural properties in the area.

The Yongin Cultural Heritage Guidebook includes updated information on 9 newly designated cultural properties and 4 cultural properties with changed locations since the first edition, "Easy and Interesting Cultural Heritage of Yongin," published in 2015, and the expanded edition released in 2019.

It is also organized by district?Cheoin, Giheung, and Suji?and arranged in order of national, provincial, and city-designated cultural properties according to their locations.

Featuring easy-to-understand explanations, photos, and directions, the guidebook is designed to be reader-friendly and easy to navigate.

In particular, for the visually impaired, 15 representative cultural heritages of Yongin were selected, and 1,000 braille guidebooks were produced. The braille books use a combination of braille and tactile printing, and audio explanations can be accessed via QR codes.

The city plans to distribute the guidebooks to local daycare centers and elementary, middle, and high schools to foster a correct understanding of Yongin’s history as well as to preserve cultural properties. The guidebook can also be downloaded from the publication section of the Yongin Central Library website.

The braille books will be distributed to visually impaired residents in the area, nationwide braille libraries, and special schools for the visually impaired to promote and raise awareness of the value of Yongin’s outstanding cultural heritage.

A city official stated, "We hope that the cultural heritage guidebook containing the latest information will help citizens understand Yongin’s history and culture. This is the first time we have produced a braille cultural heritage book. We will continue to make multifaceted efforts to provide diverse information about cultural properties for culturally marginalized groups."
