All Pregnant Women and Infertile Couples Living in Sejong Supported Regardless of Income Level

[Asia Economy (Sejong) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Starting next year, all mothers and infertile couples residing in Sejong will receive postpartum care services and infertility treatment support regardless of their income level.

According to the Sejong City Public Health Center on the 20th, currently, the postpartum care support project and infertility couple treatment cost support project are limited to households with an income below 180% of the median income. If the criteria are not met, individuals must bear the full cost of related services without separate support.

However, from next year, the income criteria will be abolished, allowing all mothers and infertile couples residing in Sejong to receive postpartum care services and infertility treatment benefits.

This measure lowers the eligibility threshold to overcome the low birth rate problem and create a birth-friendly environment.

The application period for postpartum care services is from 40 days before the expected delivery date to 30 days after delivery, and applications can be made by visiting the Southern Integrated Health Branch of the City Public Health Center or online (Bokjiro).

Also, infertility treatment cost support can be applied for by couples diagnosed with infertility by visiting the Southern Integrated Health Branch before treatment or online (Government24). Treatment cost support is available from the day of application.

Kang Min-gu, director of the City Public Health Center, said, “Expanding the postpartum care service and infertility treatment cost support projects to all childbirth families and infertile couples in the region is hoped to help overcome the national challenge of low birth rates.”
