[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Soo-yeon] CJ ENM Entertainment Division announced on the 16th that it has obtained both the international standard certification for safety management, ‘ISO22301,’ and the ‘Disaster Mitigation Excellent Company Certification’ overseen by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
The ISO22301 BCMS (Business Continuity Management System) certification acquired this time is an international standard certification that assesses whether a business continuity management system is in place. It evaluates the ability to restore business operations to normal within a short period in the event of business interruption caused by various risk factors such as natural disasters, fires, supply chain disruptions, and diseases. For broadcasting stations, certification can only be obtained if a system capable of stable production and transmission of broadcasts during crisis situations is established. CJ ENM received comprehensive evaluations and certification not only for production and transmission systems but also for infrastructure management, external communication, finance, and various other areas.
CJ ENM also obtained the ‘Disaster Mitigation Excellent Company Certification (KSBCM-296)’ administered by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety. This certification system evaluates and certifies companies that establish and implement disaster mitigation activity plans according to disaster management standards based on the ‘Act on Supporting Voluntary Activities of Companies for Disaster Mitigation.’ By acquiring both the ISO22301 international standard certification and the domestic disaster mitigation excellent company certification, CJ ENM has secured both domestic and international certifications related to disaster and safety management.
CJ ENM has set raising safety awareness and establishing a corporate culture that prioritizes safety as its main policy and has been dedicated to safety management. First, to manage safety at content production sites, it conducts safety meetings and risk assessments before production and has established a field-centered safety management system with a constant on-site inspection system. To strengthen safety management of subcontractors, it mandates qualified supplier evaluations and safety and health management plans, operates consultative bodies monthly, conducts safety education, receives consulting from external professional organizations, and sincerely carries out activities to create a safe workplace by listening to the opinions of workers at the site.
Additionally, as a cultural company, CJ ENM is practicing positive influence to raise social consensus on industrial accident prevention. As part of this effort, last October, it held a webtoon contest on the theme of industrial safety in collaboration with the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency and the Seoul Business Agency.
A CJ ENM official said, “Following the recent acquisition of the international environmental management standard ISO14001 certification, our multifaceted efforts for safety management received high marks, leading to the acquisition of the international safety management standard certification,” and added, “We will implement a global-level safety and environmental management system to practice systematic ESG management.” He continued, “We will not be complacent with the certification but will continuously strengthen the safety management system to prevent accidents among various stakeholders, including employees and partner companies.”
