[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] On the 15th at noon, Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon District, attended the '2022 Sori Sarang Choir Visiting Concert' held in the lobby on the first floor of Nowon District Office.

The Sori Sarang Choir, a non-profit private organization in the area, provides opportunities for communication through music by performing at various local places such as hospitals and village festivals, serving as a music volunteer group that encourages hope and courage among residents.

The concert held that day was arranged to provide a healing time through choral music to residents and employees visiting the district office during lunch hours.

The performance prepared by President Kim Mi-rye, Conductor Kim Yoon-hee, and 14 members began with a guest soloist's song, followed by familiar choral pieces such as 'Gwasuwon-gil,' 'Oppa Saeng-gak,' and 'Yeonnalligi,' as well as stages of 'Star' (composed by Yoon Hak-jun), 'Star' (composed by Lee Soo-in), 'Star' (composed by Jo Eun-sung), and 'Jjin-iya.'

Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon District, said, “I thank the Sori Sarang Choir, which has been conducting volunteer activities visiting neighbors in need since 2014. I hope that the residents and employees who visited the district office today can have a healing time through this performance.”

Choi Ho-kwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo District, attended and presented awards at the Yeongdeungpo Youth Development Association commendation ceremony held in the auditorium of Yeongdeungpo Police Station on the afternoon of the 15th.

This ceremony was held to reward guidance committee members who actively participated in improving the harmful environment for youth and leading protection activities, as well as youth with a strong spirit of volunteerism. Mayor Choi awarded commendations to five model youths and five outstanding monitoring members.

Mayor Choi Ho-kwon said, “I express my gratitude and congratulations to the guidance committee members who have devoted their interest and efforts so that our youth can grow up properly in a healthy environment, and to the youths who have set an example by leading volunteer activities. I will pay closer attention to ensure that the youth, who are the dreams and future of Yeongdeungpo, can grow up in a safer environment.”

Lee Ki-jae, Mayor of Yangcheon District, attended the ‘2022 Yangcheon Saemaeul Leaders Conference’ held at the Sunflower Hall of Yangcheon Cultural Center on the afternoon of the 15th and presented awards.

About 150 people, including directors of the Saemaeul Movement Yangcheon Branch, members of the Saemaeul Council and women’s groups, attended the event, which proceeded in the order of ▲Outstanding Leader Awards ▲Commendations (including from the Mayor) ▲Report on this year’s business achievements ▲Reading of the Saemaeul Leaders’ Resolution.

Mayor Lee Ki-jae said, “I deeply appreciate the dedication of the Saemaeul leaders who have contributed to regional development this year, and I ask you to continue to play a leading role in making Yangcheon District even more developed.”

Dongdaemun District (Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) held the Disability Rehabilitation Promotion Contest at 1:30 p.m. on the 15th in the multipurpose auditorium on the second floor of Dongdaemun District Office to promote friendship among people with disabilities and encourage their will for self-reliance.

Hosted by the Seoul Disabled Persons Association Dongdaemun Branch, the 2022 Disability Rehabilitation Promotion Contest was held for the first time in three years since it was suspended due to COVID-19, making it even more meaningful.

About 600 people with disabilities living in the area attended the event, which included various programs to support self-reliance such as commendations for meritorious disabled persons and delivery of living support funds for low-income disabled persons.

Various cultural performances were held to mark the year-end. Starting with performances by three winners of the disabled singing contest, the event featured saxophone performances, the invited external group Dongmun Enter Choir, djembe performances by a visually impaired team, and violin performances by the Joyful Chamber Choir, among other high-quality performances.

Lee Pil-hyung, Mayor of Dongdaemun District, who attended the 2022 Disability Rehabilitation Promotion Contest, said, “It is a meaningful occasion to gather together after three years to wrap up the year. I am glad to be part of this meaningful event. I send respect and encouragement to the disabled who do their best as members of our society without losing courage, and I will continue to do my best to provide welfare services that can improve the daily inconveniences of people with disabilities.”

Kim Tae-woo, Mayor of Gangseo District, Seoul, attended the completion ceremony of ‘NH Seoul Tower’ located in Deungchon-dong, Gangseo District, on the afternoon of the 15th and conveyed his congratulations.

Mayor Kim said, “I sincerely congratulate Jin Kyung-man, Chairman of Seoul Livestock Cooperative, and all the chairpersons nationwide. Thank you for inviting me to this meaningful event, and I hope NH Seoul Tower, which will house many companies leading advanced industries, will become a new landmark of the region.”

The completion ceremony was attended by about 300 people including Mayor Kim Tae-woo, Jin Kyung-man, Chairman of Seoul Livestock Cooperative, and Kim In-jung, Vice Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, and proceeded in the order of ▲Introduction of guests ▲Project progress report ▲Commemorative speech ▲Congratulatory speech ▲Vision proclamation ceremony.

Meanwhile, Seoul Livestock Agricultural Cooperative has been conducting various social contribution activities to bring hope to neighbors in need in the region. On the 5th, it donated 20 million won as part of the ‘Warm Winter Hope Ondol’ project to Gangseo District Office.

Park Kang-su, Mayor of Mapo District, visited the ‘2023 Senior Job Fair’ held on the first floor of Mapo District Office at 10 a.m. on the 15th to listen to the job difficulties of seniors in the area and to check the progress of senior job projects.

Mapo District held the ‘Senior Job and Social Activity Support Fair’ from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the 15th to help seniors maintain a stable and active old age.

At the fair, 13 institutions and more than 50 businesses held business briefings and recruited 3,222 new job participants.
