Conquered Desserts at That Mint-Colored Cafe!
Hello, it's been a while since [Scon Exploration], right? These days, there are so many special and attractive places that I was a bit late because I spent a long time wondering where to start. After much deliberation, I headed to the franchise cafe 79 Pound Yard. 79 Pound Yard is also known as the 'mint-colored cafe.' Haven't you occasionally seen shops decked out in mint color on the street? It boasts a unique interior that makes you mistake it for a private cafe. If you just thought "Ah!" then yes, that's exactly 79 Pound Yard.
You shouldn't stop at admiring the exterior of 79 Pound Yard; you must take a look inside. How could you miss such a sentimental interior? Not only the interior but also the variety of desserts have made this place popular by word of mouth. As a European-style dessert cafe, they offer a wide range of items including pound cake, brownies, croissants, and croffles, so bread lovers, take note! The editor will leave an honest review to see if the dessert taste can capture customers' hearts as much as the stylish exterior.
The desserts are displayed quite differently from what you usually see in cafes, catching your eye. The plates, designed to captivate women's hearts, make you flutter for no reason ♡ The excitement of choosing which dessert to eat also encourages you to take photos for SNS, so make sure you have enough storage on your phone.
While a stylish interior is important, we must not forget that taste is the top priority for food lovers! One of 79 Pound Yard's signature dessert menus is the croffle. A croffle is a combination of croissant and waffle, a bakery item made by shaping croissant dough into a waffle form. It is the epitome of crispy outside and soft inside! Starting with the basic croffle made from fermented dough, you can enjoy various flavors topped with fresh cream, seasonal fruits, cream cheese, and more. Tasting the savory yet chewy basic croffle will naturally make you think, 'They’ve got the basics down!'
The Ttang Croffle is made by folding the croffle in half and generously filling it with custard cream and fresh cream, then adding toppings on top. There are many varieties such as Choco Crunchy, Milk, Lotus, Walnut & Cashew, but since strawberries are in season, I tried the Double Berry Croffle. Thanks to the tangy yet sweet jam and the crispy toppings on the outside, you can enjoy a variety of textures. When you need an extreme sugar boost, pairing it with a cup of coffee will melt away all your stress.
The Melting Choco Cake is made by layering chocolate sheets and cream. It’s a menu consistently loved by chocolate lovers, but it tasted like a typical cake you can find anywhere. If you expect too much, you might be disappointed, but chocolate is always love... you know that without me saying it, right? The cherry on top adds a spoonful of sentimentality.
This is the Butter Strawberry Cake, where soft castella, fresh cream, and strawberry jam blend harmoniously. It’s a basic cake that hardly anyone would dislike. Since tasting this cake, the editor has been running to 79 Pound Yard whenever a slice of cake is needed. The balance between bread and cream is just right, so it’s neither greasy nor overly sweet, and the fresh and sweet strawberry jam is well balanced. If you’re tired of cakes from famous franchise bakeries or coffee shops, this will be a great choice, so don’t forget to jot it down in your notes.
They make fresh grapefruit juice and grapefruit ade using 100% real grapefruit. It’s not overly sweet, so people of all ages, from adults to children, can enjoy it. Especially, the grapefruit ade is full of refreshing bubbles, making it excellent for quenching thirst?don’t forget that!
If you ask why a franchise cafe was planned for the [Scon Exploration] corner, I can explain two reasons. The Songpa Heliocity branch I visited in Songpa-gu, Jamsil, Seoul, has a rooftop above the first-floor cafe, and the building includes facilities similar to a kids’ cafe, making it a great place for moms raising children. They can leave their kids there and enjoy the rooftop. The rooftop is available for cafe customers and can also be privately rented, so keep that in mind!
