Low Birthrate and Aging Society Committee and Provincial Council Sign Business Agreement

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] On the 15th, Gyeongsangnam-do signed a business agreement with the Low Fertility and Aging Society Committee and the Gyeongnam Provincial Council at the provincial government office meeting room to jointly respond to population structure changes and regional extinction.
The signing ceremony was attended by Governor Park Wan-su, Vice Chairman Na Kyung-won of the Low Fertility and Aging Society Committee, Chairman Kim Jin-bu of the Provincial Council, and other officials.
The province stated that it promoted the agreement to analyze the causes of population structure changes in various ways, shift policy directions, establish a cooperation system between central and local governments, and respond swiftly to regional population issues.
The three organizations agreed to actively cooperate to successfully implement policies addressing low fertility and an aging society.

Gyeongsangnam-do and the agreement institutions plan to jointly take the lead in solving the pressing population issues through socio-structural measures such as revitalizing the regional economy and creating jobs, thereby improving the quality of life for all generations and realizing an inclusive nation.
Governor Park said, “The issue of low fertility is a more urgent national task than any economic or social problem,” adding, “Through this agreement, the Low Fertility and Aging Society Committee and local governments must strengthen cooperation to resolve low fertility.”
Vice Chairman Na also said, “Recently, Gyeongsangnam-do is facing population issues such as the continuous decline in total fertility rate and the outflow of young people to the Seoul metropolitan area,” and added, “We will work together with the central and local governments to pool wisdom and overcome the crisis.”
