[Seoul District News] Gwangjin-gu Holds Opening Ceremony on the 14th at a 454㎡ Center in Jayang 4-dong & Provides Psychological Counseling, Education & Leisure Programs, Space & Item Sharing, and Social Network Support
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] The proportion of single-person households in Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) is about 49%, ranking seventh among the 25 autonomous districts in Seoul in terms of the number of single-person households.
In particular, according to Seoul citizens' living data, Hwayang-dong in Gwangjin-gu ranked second among administrative neighborhoods in Seoul with the highest number of single-person households. The single-person household rate in Hwayang-dong exceeds 81%.
To provide effective customized services for the rapidly increasing single-person households in the area, a 'Single-Person Household Support Center' with a total floor area of 454㎡ has opened near Konkuk University Station in Jayang 4-dong.
On the 14th, Gwangjin-gu held an opening ceremony for the 'Single-Person Household Support Center' and promised to strive for a happier and more satisfying life for single-person households.
The opening ceremony was attended by about 100 people, including Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, members of the National Assembly, city and district council members, as well as local single-person household residents. They listened to the progress of the center's establishment and an introduction to the center and its projects, followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a tour of the facilities.
Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, "Our district has shown great interest in single-person households starting from the Family Center," adding, "We will continue to make sustained efforts to systematically support single-person households in line with the changing concepts and environments of families."
The 'Single-Person Household Support Center' consists of an activity room for physical activities, club rooms, study rooms, program rooms, as well as a broadcasting room and a sharing center.
Through the center, the district provides support such as ▲ counseling for psychological and emotional difficulties ▲ home repair education programs ▲ educational and leisure programs (cooking, performances, cultural arts, employment, entrepreneurship, etc.) ▲ sharing of spaces and items (camping gear, daily health products, tools, etc.) ▲ support for social networks.
The Single-Person Household Support Center in Jayang 4-dong, where the opening ceremony was held, is the first center. The second center in Junggok 3-dong, currently under construction, aims to open by the end of December this year. The second center in Junggok 3-dong will have a total floor area of 127㎡ and will be located in the Health and Welfare Administration Town near Junggok Station, consisting of program rooms and a sharing center.
