Geochang-gun Selected as an 'Excellent Institution' in the Ministry of Health and Welfare's Medical Benefits Project Evaluation Geochang-gun, selected as an excellent institution in the 2022 Medical Aid Project evaluation.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Geochang-gun, Gyeongnam Province, was selected as an excellent institution in the 2022 Medical Aid Project evaluation hosted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare.

The Medical Aid Project evaluation, conducted annually by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, assesses medical aid case management, recovery rate of undue profits, long-term hospitalization management, and more.

This evaluation selected 18 local governments nationwide (2 top excellence, 16 excellence), and the selected excellent institutions are awarded commendations from the Minister of Health and Welfare, prize money, and opportunities for overseas training.

The Medical Aid Project supports medical aid copayments, nursing expenses, pregnancy and childbirth medical expenses, assistive devices for the disabled, etc., for citizens who lack or have difficulty maintaining their livelihood due to illness or injury, thereby reducing economic burdens and showing high satisfaction in improving quality of life.

Geochang-gun was selected as an excellent institution in rural areas due to its overall excellent project performance according to the medical aid project inspection indicators.

In particular, based on a close cooperative system with towns and townships, medical aid itinerant education and capacity-building training were conducted at the beginning of the year, and welfare officials in towns and townships familiarized themselves with the contents of the medical aid project to actively respond when difficult households occurred. For recipients exceeding the medical aid days, focused management was carried out, contributing to the stabilization of medical finances.

Governor Gu In-mo said, “We will continue to provide stable medical services to those in difficult living conditions so that they can enjoy a healthy life, and operate a solid medical aid project by inducing appropriate medical use through case management.”
