Following China's Easing Policy, Macau Also Implements 5-Day Self-Quarantine
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Pyeonghwa] As China eased its COVID-19 policy stance, Macau also followed suit by allowing self-quarantine for confirmed cases.
According to major foreign media on the 12th, the Macau government will implement self-quarantine for COVID-19 confirmed cases starting from the 14th (local time). The self-quarantine period is 5 days. Macau health authorities stated that implementing self-quarantine can help reduce the burden on medical support and activate social functions.
This move by the Macau government came at the time when China relaxed its COVID-19 prevention policies. Earlier, on the 7th of this month, China showed a zero-COVID easing stance by allowing home treatment for COVID-19 and abolishing PCR mass testing.
Accordingly, Macau also eased COVID-19 prevention regulations for incoming travelers by reducing the hotel quarantine period from the previous 7 days to 5 days, while adding 3 days of home quarantine.
As of this date, Macau's cumulative number of COVID-19 confirmed cases stands at 956, with 44 new cases reported.
