Construction of stairs at Gwangju Sangmu Station Exit 4 in 2015... 40 million KRW donated to date
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Gwangju Shinsegae Eye Clinic (Chief Director Kim Jaebong) donated 5 million won from the 'Love Health Stairs' fund accumulated at Exit 4 of Sangmu Station.
Gwangju Shinsegae Eye Clinic and Gwangju Urban Railway Corporation recently held a donation ceremony for the 'Love Health Stairs' fund.
The event was attended by about 10 people, including Kim Jihwan, Head of Management at the Urban Railway Corporation, Park Younggeol, Honorary Director of Gwangju Shinsegae Eye Clinic, Kim Younghee, General Director, and Kim Sunmi, Principal of Segwang School.
Since July 2015, the 'Love Health Stairs' created at Exit 4 of Sangmu Station with the support of Shinsegae Eye Clinic has accumulated 10 won each time a citizen climbs the stairs.
So far, about 2 million citizens have used the health stairs, accumulating approximately 40 million won in donations and 8 million won in eye health checkup vouchers.
This year, 5 million won was delivered to Aejaram Group Home, Gwangju Migrant Women Support Center, Segwang School, and others.
Honorary Director Park Younggeol said, "Amid the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic and economic downturn, it was possible to practice the spirit of loving neighbors through the Love Health Stairs," adding, "We will continue to consider activities for marginalized neighbors and contribute to creating a warm local community."
