Positive Reception for the Simultaneous Enactment of Four Youth-Related Ordinances
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Gwangju Metropolitan Council (Chairman Jeong Muchang) has won the Excellence Award for three consecutive years at the "Local Council Best Practices Competition."
On the 12th, the Gwangju Metropolitan Council announced that it received the "Minister of the Interior and Safety Award" at the 2022 "Local Council Best Practices Competition" hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety for the project "Gwangju Metropolitan City Youth For You! 4 (Four) Ordinances."
The "Gwangju Metropolitan City Youth For You! 4 Ordinances," proposed by Councilor Shin Sujeong, was highly evaluated for collectively enacting four ordinances that serve as a guide for youth policies: ▲ Gwangju Metropolitan City Basic Youth Ordinance ▲ Gwangju Metropolitan City Youth Activity Promotion Ordinance ▲ Gwangju Metropolitan City Youth Welfare Support Ordinance ▲ Gwangju Metropolitan City Youth Leader Treatment Improvement and Status Enhancement Ordinance.
The main contents of the four youth-related ordinances include expanding opportunities for youth to directly participate in policy decision-making processes (Basic Youth Ordinance), creating an environment where youth can freely engage in activities (Youth Activity Promotion Ordinance), supporting the harmonious growth of youth socially and economically (Youth Welfare Support Ordinance), and supporting the treatment of experts who foster youth (Youth Leader Treatment Improvement Ordinance), ensuring that youth policies are harmoniously implemented across different fields.
Meanwhile, the "Local Council Best Practices Competition" has been held annually since 2019 under the Ministry of the Interior and Safety to discover and disseminate excellent cases of local council legislative activities and to promote a positive perception of local councils.
Jeong Muchang, Chairman of the Gwangju Metropolitan Council, said, "The reason Gwangju Metropolitan Council has won the Local Council Excellent Ordinance Award for three consecutive years is thanks to the enthusiastic and creative legislative activities of the council members," adding, "We will continue to take the lead in enacting excellent ordinances in the future."
