Damyang-gun, Full Efforts to Restore Damage from Fire at Changpyeong Traditional Market

Comprehensive T/F Team Measures, Minimizing Merchant Damage Through Temporary Store Installation and Parking Lot Provision

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] On the morning of the 10th around 8 a.m., a fire broke out at Changpyeong Traditional Market, and Damyang-gun is making every effort to restore it.

Damyang-gun, Jeollanam-do, announced on the 12th that it has set up a temporary office for fire accident countermeasures in the parking lot of Changpyeong Traditional Market, dispatching two administrative personnel along with the Small Enterprise and Market Service and Jeonnam Credit Guarantee Foundation to the site to receive damage reports from merchants and promote support measures and financial consultations for merchants affected by the fire.

To prepare comprehensive countermeasures, a fire accident countermeasure T/F team was formed with the deputy county head as the leader, and an emergency countermeasure meeting was held. They decided to establish and implement sector-specific measures for rapid facility restoration and support for affected merchants.

The county plans to open a temporary market by installing Mongolian-style tents and containers near the market and preparing a parking lot as soon as possible. The traditional market area where the fire occurred will be demolished and completely rebuilt.

County Governor Lee Byeongno said, “We will make every effort to prepare measures for the livelihood of merchants and minimize damage by setting up a temporary market as soon as possible. Along with securing the budget necessary for the reconstruction of the traditional market, we will also focus on fire prevention to ensure that such incidents do not happen again.”
