Hyundai Motor Group's Six Companies Recognized for Sustainable Management Achievements

[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Dae-yeol] Hyundai Motor, Kia, Hyundai Mobis, Hyundai Steel, Hyundai Engineering & Construction, and Hyundai Glovis?six companies within the Hyundai Motor Group?were included in the highest 'World Index' in the 2022 Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) evaluation, the company announced on the 12th.


DJSI is an index published annually by financial information provider S&P Dow Jones Indices and sustainability assessment agency S&P Global Switzerland SA, evaluating companies' ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) performance. The World Index received by Hyundai Motor Group this year is the highest grade awarded to companies ranking in the top 10% among 2,500 global companies by market capitalization subject to evaluation.


Kia was included in this index for the first time this year. The other five companies were included consecutively this year following last year. Hyundai Motor was rated first globally in the automotive industry, and Hyundai Steel was ranked first globally in the steel industry. Hyundai Engineering & Construction was the only company in the construction industry to be included for 13 consecutive years.


The company explained that each company was recognized for improvements in various areas such as reducing carbon emissions and water usage, human resource management, carbon neutrality implementation, supply chain risk management, and corporate social responsibility strategies. A company official stated, "We will continue to seek ways to enhance the practical level of ESG management and communicate with various stakeholders."
