[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Hyun-ji] Jeong Jin-seok, Emergency Response Committee Chairman of the People Power Party, criticized the Democratic Party of Korea's motion to dismiss Minister of the Interior and Safety Lee Sang-min on the 11th, calling it a “Seongdonggyeokseo (聲東擊西, a strategy to confuse the opponent by attacking from the east while making a sound in the west),” and said, “It is an attempt to divert and distract public attention from the arrest and judicial processing of Representative Lee Jae-myung.”

At the parliamentary meeting held at the National Assembly that day, Chairman Jeong said, “The motion to dismiss has no justification and is not effective. The president will immediately exercise the veto right, so have you thought about why they are doing this?”

He also pointed out, “The regular session of the National Assembly ended on the 9th, but why did the Democratic Party extend the session immediately on Saturday (the 10th) without even a day’s break? It means they will not give even a single day’s gap,” adding, “This is truly the tyranny of the Democratic Party, which shamelessly relies solely on its overwhelming number of seats.” This is a claim that the Democratic Party convened an extraordinary session immediately to prevent the arrest of Representative Lee based on the clause that “members of the National Assembly shall not be arrested or detained without the consent of the National Assembly during the session.”

He said, “The closest aide, whom Representative Lee is so proud of, has been arrested and indicted,” and added, “Who is the planner responsible for creating a huge reservoir of corruption using local power for his presidential bid strategy? Everyone, even a child in Samcheok, knows that after Jeong Jin-sang and Kim Yong, it will be Lee Jae-myung.”

He continued, “The Democratic Party is solely focused on Lee Jae-myung,” and criticized, “There will be almost no citizens who agree with this behavior that goes far beyond the limits.”
