According to the fire department on the 10th, at around 8:07 a.m., a fire of unknown cause broke out at Changpyeong Market in Damyang-gun, Jeonnam, destroying 10 out of 40 stores within the market. Merchants preparing to welcome customers on the day of the oil market were startled and evacuated, and fortunately, there were no casualties.
The fire authorities issued a Level 1 response and called all personnel to emergency duty. A total of 213 firefighters and police officers, along with 31 pieces of equipment including water tanks, were mobilized to extinguish the major fire within about 30 minutes and are currently cleaning up the scene. The fire department is investigating the exact cause of the fire and the extent of the damage.
