Damyang-gun, Public Officials Capacity Building Training to Overcome Population Extinction Crisis

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Kim Chunsu] On the 9th, Damyang-gun, Jeollanam-do, held a special lecture to enhance the capabilities of public officials in securing national funds at the Dambit Agricultural Center, inviting former Vice Minister of Strategy and Finance Ando Geol, with about 200 public officials including Damyang County Governor Lee Byeongno in attendance.


Former Vice Minister Ando gave a lecture titled "Challenges and Responses of Korean Finance," explaining the overall concepts of national finance including the role and scale of finance and the structure of central government finance, emphasizing the redistribution of functions and resources between the national and local governments for balanced national development in the era of local extinction.


He particularly advised that securing national budget requires alignment with national policies, and that active promotion of the vision for regional development and strengthening the capabilities of public officials are also important.


Governor Lee Byeongno urged, "Regarding the survival of local governments due to population extinction, public officials should enhance their capabilities and do their best in their duties to suppress the acceleration of population decline through securing national funds, attracting large-scale investments, and improving living conditions."


Meanwhile, former Vice Minister Ando, a native of Hwasun, Jeollanam-do, entered public service through the 33rd Administrative Examination, served in key positions including Director of the Budget Office at the Ministry of Strategy and Finance, and is an expert in national finance and budget who served as the second Vice Minister of Strategy and Finance until May of this year.
