Yeosu City to Recruit 8,587 Participants for Next Year's Senior Job Program

[Yeosu=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Cheol-hoon] Jeonnam Yeosu City (Mayor Jeong Gi-myeong) announced that it will recruit participants for the ‘2023 Senior Job and Social Activity Support Project’ from the 12th to the 16th of this month.

The number of recruits is 8,587, an increase of 92 from last year, with a total project budget of 22.117 billion KRW.

The project covers a total of 77 fields: 47 public interest activity fields with 7,805 participants, 17 social service type fields with 450 participants, 12 market type fields with 232 participants, and 1 employment referral type field with 100 participants.

Applications can be submitted in person at the applicant’s local eup/myeon/dong office, welfare centers, Yeosu Senior Club, Yeosu branch of the Korea Senior Citizens Association, and 9 other private executing organizations, or online via Bokjiro.

For in-person applications, applicants must bring their ID card and resident registration certificate (basic pension receipt certificate, COVID-19 vaccination confirmation) and visit the eup/myeon/dong office or one of the 9 private executing organizations.

The city applies a five-day rotation system to prevent congestion at reception centers. On the first day of reception, the 12th, applicants whose birth year ends in ‘1’ or ‘6’ are eligible to apply.

By recruitment category: ▲ Public interest activities target basic pension recipients aged 65 or older, paying 270,000 KRW for activities of 3 hours per day and at least 30 hours per month. ▲ Social service type is open to those aged 65 or older, paying 594,000 KRW for 3 hours per day and 60 hours per month. ▲ Market type and employment referral type are open to those aged 60 or older, with salaries varying by activity project.

Especially next year, although nationwide national subsidy projects are reduced due to the downsizing of the public interest type senior job project, Yeosu City has secured additional city budget to recruit a slightly increased number of 8,587 participants compared to this year, with selection results to be finalized by the end of December.

A city official said, “Considering the difficulties faced by seniors due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, we have slightly increased the number of senior job participants for next year. We will do our best to help seniors regain vitality in their lives through job participation.”
