Woods "Changed Golf Ball" ... 'To Increase Driving Distance'

[Asia Economy Reporter No Woo-rae] The 'Golf Emperor' Tiger Woods (USA, photo) has equipped a new golf ball.

On the 8th (local time), Golf.com in the United States reported, "Woods plans to compete using a ball he has not used before." Elliott Mellow, marketing manager of Woods' ball sponsor Bridgestone, said, "Woods will use the Bridgestone Tour B X at The Match and the PNC Championship."

Woods will participate in the 2-on-2 event The Match held on the 10th in Bel Air, Florida. This marks his return to the field after five months since The Open in July. He will also compete in the PNC Championship, held over two days starting on the 16th, alongside his son Charlie.

Woods has been using the Bridgestone Tour B XS. This product was developed with Woods' involvement from the development stage and is known to perfectly match Woods' swing and preferences. The reason Woods decided to use a ball he usually does not use is related to distance. The Tour B X is firmer, has a lower trajectory, and less spin than the Tour B XS, resulting in slightly longer distance. Woods has used soft balls with high spin throughout his life.

Golf Channel interpreted, "Although Woods has valued ball control and feel over distance, this means distance has now become a concern." During the Hero World Challenge, which Woods withdrew from due to plantar fasciitis, he practiced extensively with the new ball at the practice range and expressed satisfaction.
