4 Consecutive Years of Public-Private-Academic Partnership, Anticipation for Revitalizing Local Education Ecosystem

[Gurye=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yuk Mi-seok] On the 8th, Jeollanam-do Gurye-gun announced that it has been selected for the Ministry of Education's 2023 'Future Education District' contest project, jointly promoted with the Gurye Office of Education.

Gurye-gun achieved the remarkable feat of being selected for the contest project for four consecutive years since first being selected in 2020.

The Future Education District, hosted by the Ministry of Education, is a contest project in which the public, private, and academic sectors jointly promote various educational projects to revitalize the local education ecosystem.

Accordingly, Gurye-gun applied jointly with the Gurye Office of Education, passed document and face-to-face evaluations, and was finally selected for the contest project on the 6th, receiving 100 million KRW in national funding.

Gurye-gun has been operating the Future Education District for three years in connection with the Gurye Office of Education, promoting projects such as ▲ operating the Gurye Maek Itgi curriculum linking schools and villages ▲ producing an eco-friendly ecological education and Yeosun Incident awareness village textbook ▲ resolving regional educational disparities and supporting students in educational crisis.

In 2023, under the goal of a Gurye education community that grows together with the whole village through cooperative autonomy and sharing, it plans to carry out various educational activities for students, including ▲ operating the Gurye Maek Itgi curriculum utilizing Gurye regional resources ▲ supporting Gurye Maek future education ▲ creating a whole village learning center.

Kim Soon-ho, the county governor, said, “Through the Future Education District project, we will do our best hand in hand with the Office of Education to revitalize Gurye-gun’s educational ecosystem, enhance children’s happiness, and restore educational capacity.”
