Gochang-gun Selected as 'Excellent Institution' in Regional Cultural Heritage Education Project Evaluation

[Gochang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jae-gil] On the 8th, Jeonbuk Gochang-gun announced that it was selected as an excellent institution in the evaluation of the ‘2022 Regional Cultural Heritage Education Project’ hosted by the Cultural Heritage Administration on the 7th and received the Commissioner of the Cultural Heritage Administration Award.

The Cultural Heritage Administration selected eight local governments, including Gochang-gun, as excellent institutions among 42 local governments nationwide that operated cultural heritage education programs.

The regional cultural heritage education project is a program that develops and operates educational programs that can utilize local cultural heritage as educational resources, strengthening the cultural identity of the local community and providing opportunities for historical and cultural education to local students.

The county operated a program called ‘Our Local Stories with Gochang Nongak’ together with the Gochang Nongak Preservation Society.

By visiting schools that wished to participate and providing hands-on education on Gochang Nongak, they accumulated positive experiences regarding local cultural heritage and strengthened community awareness and cultural identity.

Gu Jae-yeon, the representative of the Gochang Nongak Preservation Society, said, “I am grateful to have achieved results in enjoying the value of cultural heritage,” and added, “We plan to do our best to pass down and preserve Gochang Nongak in the future.”

Oh Mi-sook, head of the county’s Culture and Arts Division, said, “We will actively apply for projects utilizing local cultural heritage promoted by the Cultural Heritage Administration in the future and strive to promote our local cultural heritage.”
