Students from Hanbada Middle School are attending a career exploration lecture by the Department of Language Therapy and Audiology at Dongmyung University.
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] The Department of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology at Dongmyung University concluded its 2022 hands-on career experience program with students from Hanbada Middle School on the 6th.
Starting with 113 students from Daecheon Middle School on April 26, followed by 98 students from Gwang-an Middle School on September 15, and 187 students from Hanbada Middle School on December 5 and 6, a total of 398 students visited the Dongmyung Speech Clinical Center and Dongmyung Audiology Clinical Center to participate in career experience programs throughout the year.
Full-time professors from the Department of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology at Dongmyung University developed auditory rehabilitation experience programs tailored to their respective specialties and conducted various programs during the career experience events.
The programs included ▲exploring the career of a speech therapist ▲exploring the career of an audiologist ▲soundproof booth experience and pure-tone audiometry, otoscopy ▲speech sound evaluation using CSL voice analysis equipment and vocal cord massage experience for maintaining a healthy voice ▲pronunciation tests ▲vocabulary assessment, among others.
Participating students received pens as gifts and completed missions by experiencing each practice and filling out experience sheets. Students who answered quizzes correctly during the experience were also given small prizes.
Third-year students from the Department of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology assisted in the experience sessions by forming teams as practice helpers.
Department head Lee Sung-min said, “We hope that future dreamers will learn about the professions of speech therapists and audiologists, gain some experience, and that this will help them design their future dreams.”
The career experience program of the Department of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology at Dongmyung University can be applied for through the Ministry of Education’s ‘Kkumgil’ platform.
From 2023, the program will be held annually in April and September.
