[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Wook] “We, the public officials, will also strive to make the 4-minute miracle happen!”

All public officials of Changnyeong-gun, Gyeongnam, invited a specialized medical institution’s training team to provide emergency treatment education such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) to save lives fading away within the golden time of 4 minutes when facing emergencies at various disaster sites and people suffering from cardiovascular diseases.

On the 7th, Changnyeong-gun held 2022 emergency treatment education including CPR combining theory and practice for employees at the large conference room of the county office.

The training was prepared to improve the correct response ability to emergencies as the importance of securing citizens’ lives and safety has increased due to recent social disasters such as the Itaewon accident.

A specialized training team consisting of four members from the Gyeongnam Regional Emergency Medical Center (Samsung Changwon Hospital) conducted theoretical education on how to act in emergencies and practical training on chest compression CPR and the use of automated external defibrillators (AED).

The training strictly followed quarantine rules such as social distancing between attendees, temperature checks, and mask-wearing due to the resurgence of COVID-19.

Through the training, it is expected that public officials will be able to take the lead in crisis response with confidence that “I can do it too” and a sense of mission when emergencies occur.

A county official said, “The ability to respond to emergencies requires accurate knowledge and repeated learning. Since CPR can save the lives of beloved family members and people around you, we hope the residents will also take active interest.”

The county plans to conduct emergency treatment education including CPR for county office employees again on the 13th.
