Hwang Jung-min and Hyun Bin's 'Negotiation' to Open on January 18

[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Isul] The film 'Negotiation' is set to be released on January 18, 2023, announced Plus M Entertainment on the 7th.

'Negotiation' is a movie depicting the negotiation operation of a diplomat and a local National Intelligence Service agent who head to Afghanistan to rescue Koreans taken hostage by the Taliban in one of the worst abduction incidents. Directed by Im Soon-rye, who helmed 'Forever the Moment' (2008), 'The Attorney' (2014), and 'Little Forest' (2018), the film stars actors Hwang Jung-min and Hyun Bin in leading roles.

The released poster captures Hwang Jung-min as Jeong Jae-ho, a negotiation specialist diplomat embarking on the operation in the harsh desert, alongside Hyun Bin as Park Dae-sik, an agent of the National Intelligence Service. Although their methods differ, the two risk their lives toward the shared goal of saving the hostages, drawing attention to the feats they will accomplish.

The trailer features the dangerous moments during the abduction incident and the negotiation operation amid a series of harsh conditions, showcasing scenes from Afghanistan. It portrays Jae-ho and Dae-sik advancing to save the hostages despite the Taliban's constantly changing demands, differences in approach and thinking, and additional sacrifices of hostages under adverse circumstances. Kang Ki-young appears as Lee Bong-han, also known as Kasim, a Korean who survived in the back alleys of Afghanistan, fluent in local affairs and language, serving as an indispensable interpreter in the negotiation operation, adding an element of interest.
