Jeju Fire Headquarters Selects Winners of Children's Fire Safety Poster Contest

[Jeju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Jeongpil] The Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Fire Safety Headquarters (Chief Park Geun-oh) selected the winners of the ‘Children’s Fire Safety Poster Contest’ held throughout last month in celebration of the 75th Fire Safety Emphasis Month.

According to the Jeju Fire Headquarters on the 6th, the Children’s Fire Safety Poster Drawing Contest is an annual event held every November during Fire Safety Emphasis Month, where children showcase their creative ideas on the theme of fire prevention. This year, as in the previous year, a total of 221 works were submitted due to active participation from children.

On the 5th, after a fair evaluation by judges composed of art teachers recommended by the Jeju Provincial Office of Education, five outstanding works that highlighted children’s creativity and expressiveness regarding fire safety were selected.

The grand prize was awarded to Hong Hael, a student at Wollang Elementary School, for the work titled ‘The Fire That Endangers Us All,’ which received high scores for effectively expressing the dangers of fire. This piece will be submitted as Jeju’s representative work to the nationwide Children’s Fire Safety Poster Contest hosted by the National Fire Agency on the 12th.

The five selected outstanding works will receive commendations from the Governor of Jeju Province.

Park Geun-oh, Chief of the Fire Safety Headquarters, said, “I hope that by drawing fire safety posters, children have recognized the importance of fire prevention and that this has been an opportunity to further promote safety awareness.”

Meanwhile, in last year’s nationwide Children’s Fire Safety Poster Contest, Ko Jaeho, a student at Wollang Elementary School in Jeju, won the grand prize for his work titled ‘Making Way for Fire Trucks in Early Fire Suppression,’ which excellently expressed the importance of yielding to fire trucks.
